The Farmer, His seed and His good ground

“but other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13‬:‭8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The farmer went out to sow. He expected good results. He lost the yield on the seed that fell by the road side, the stony ground and the field of thorns.

Now of the ones that fell on the good soil, some of the seed yielded a 100 fold, some yielded 60 and some others 30 fold returns.

What happened to the ones with 60 and 30 fold? Remember they all fell on the good soil, so the differental is not about the soil now.

We have to also ask the seed about its journey from landing on the soil to harvest time. There are stages of development to go through, there are things going on underneath the ground unseen to the naked eyes looking above the ground. The crops faces its own battles against natural elements and external opposition.

We must remain trusting God throughout all the phases. We must trust God with the processes that we have no control over.

The enemy that snatched the seed from the wayside and brought the obstacles against seed on stony ground as well as the thorns to choke the plant is still around to fight the yield on the good soil.

Those who have gardens know that the winds of life blow against the crops even after they have sprouted and borne fruits. Between the time the fruits show up and they get to ripening, a lot of things still happen that limits the eventual outcome.

Notice there was no record of the sower ever once blaming the good soil for the different levels of results.

Same seed on the same good soil but not all of them produced equal results.

The farmer did not blame the soil in this outcome. He understands that life happens. Winds blow, the sway of life happens, animals pluck out of the budding fruits, birds pick at some of them and the yield on some crops ends up not being 100 percent.

I had a dream where I had the task of carrying eggs across a difficult terrain, a difficult course. Some dogs were chasing at some point and I had to climb over obstacles. The path was difficult. At the end of the journey some of the eggs had fallen off and got broken. I felt bad I lost some eggs along the way, but the person I saw at the end of race did not complain about the broken eggs, he only showed me other tasks and how we can even make more yield in other ways for the farm.

I believe God understands the why of the different yields, he wants us to continue working. I think we should be a little easy on ourselves when some of our endeavours don’t go exactly as expected. Let’s be grateful we had a yield. As long as the soil is still his, the farmer knows to come back again next year to plant some more.

As long as you remain the good soil, keep receiving the seed, the farmer will keep coming back every season. I am learning to expect some difficulties along the way. Nothing ever goes exactly as envisaged or planned. In all cases I trust God to fulfill His purpose in spite of the adverse situations.

The cost of bitterness, unforgiveness and broken relationships.

There comes a point in your life when you realize that the cost of having a broken/hurting relationship in your life is so great that you will be doing yourself a disservice not mending them.

You will be hurting yourself holding on to a grudge, bitterness or hurt. It costs too much to hold on to a fight, rift or anything that might bring a wedge between you and someone else – close or even distant.

What cause fights? Someone hurt your feeling, say something terrible, disrespect or disregard you? I know the pain such actions brings, we’ve all been there. However I have come to realize these are all the tactics of the enemy to weaken you. The enemy could use anyone. I mean anyone, far or near. The enemy is trying to use you to hurt yourself.

What is at stake in your destiny is too big to allow the enemy have his way in your life.

When you are fighting someone, not talking to them or relating with them like you need to, you are hurting yourself.

  1. Your relationship with God suffers. You can’t pray, you can’t worship, you can’t offer yourself to God when you have bitterness in your heart. Jesus instructed in Matthew 5:23-24 MSG “This is how I want you to conduct yourself in these matters. If you enter your place of worship and, about to make an offering, you suddenly remember a grudge a friend has against you, abandon your offering, leave immediately, go to this friend and make things right. Then and only then, come back and work things out with God.” So it is saying don’t even waste your time thinking you are praying or worshiping God or offering anything to Him, when you have unresolved conflicts. Once it comes to your mind, you have to resolve it first. Those are the words of Jesus – the one we all claim to love, worship and serve. He says if you love me, obey my commandments.
  2. You have no peace within yourself, you can’t even have a good night rest hanging on to bitterness. Especially when it is with your spouse – for those who are married. You have a wall between you until you resolve the matter. Why don’t you resolve the issues quickly. You have a lot to gain by resolving matters quickly and moving on, knowing it is ultimately about your relationship with God and your destiny. If remaining bitter with someone will hinder my prayers then it is in my best interest to resolve the matter quickly. “Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.” 1 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬ “Guard your heart with all diligence. Out of it flows everything”.
  3. You cannot fulfill your responsibilities towards people you are bitter against: loving them as you are called to do. There is wall or obstruction in your spirit relating with them.

Why did Paul advise that As much it lies in your strength – live peaceably with all men? Because it is in your best interest to do so. It costs too much for hold on to such grudges. You lose too much personally not to let things go in your heart. It is not easy and it is a mark of maturity in the Lord to let things slide. We have to learn to let things go and the quicker we can do that, the more mature we are. When we do our own bit and the other party is still bitter, God sees that and He knows how to judge and intervene to help the relationship. You be the spiritually matured person and seek to end all rifts as quickly as possible. Life is too short to lose any part of it to prolonged fights and discord. You don’t want your relationship with God to suffer.

Nothing or nobody is worth losing my peace and bond with God for. I will rather forgive, apologize, mend broken walls and move on to protect my heart, my peace and my relationship with my father.

Ephesians 4:31-32 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

Recognizing Rebellion

Luke 15:11-32

The sheer willingness to rebel.

The sheer temptation to fall out of line.

The mischievous thought of taking control or the beclouded judgement that we cannot gain access until the father is no more.

Like the entitled elder brother, You may publicly have never wandered away from home in rebellion like the younger brother, but somewhere inside you, you know you have also departed from the Father one way or the other.

You may be in the house physically, but your heart have departed wandering and wondering if there is something shinny waiting for you out there as well.

Look inward, in what area of your life have you departed from the Father’s original intention? You need to retrace your steps and get back home.

What areas of your life are you desperately trying to hide away from the father?

What areas of your life would you rather not have the Father be in control?

Which part of you is inpatient and wants to get everything that belongs to you now and immediately rather than wait for the set time by the Father? Identify that lurking prodigal and submit it to the Father’s will.

Take a look inside and ask yourself: what happened to you? Where are you? What are you doing here? How did you get here? It is time to retrace our steps back to the Father’s original intentions.

We see the prodigal and rebellious tendencies find their way to the surface in the attitude displayed when the Junior one came back home. The father was jubilant and asked for a feast and when the senior brother heard about it, he was offended and rebelled. Against the Father’s will he stayed outside while others were inside. He protested against what the father was doing. He also displayed his entitlement. He could also disagree with the Father’s will. Why was he offended? Is it possible he had also imagined himself going out and enjoying all the allures and pleasures of life like his brother but was never able to carry it out? Maybe he was also tempted to do the same. Maybe he pacified himself with the thought of waiting it out in the house till the father died, after all everything the father owns will eventually become his. He is not willing to share his waiting inheritance with anyone else. When the brother showed up, he was annoyed because he perceived him as a threat – a loss instead of a gain like his father saw it.

He was waiting for the father to die before he could lay claim on everything. Meanwhile everything was already his for the asking, even without leaving the house.

There you go! That is it. The two sons made the same mistake. Rather than asking for your inheritance and traveling away from the father to spend it recklessly or staying inside the house but never asking for what belongs to you, the father would rather have them both stay at home and also lay claim on what belongs to them in the house, knowing that everything He had belonged to them in the now. The father is not going anywhere and His resources are limitless. He can never run out.

The younger son thought: I can never enjoy my blessings in the father’s presence and under the father’s influence.

The first son thought: I do not have access, this father will not give me what I want. I’ll just have to wait till he dies or I figure something out.

——

There’s nothing out there for you in the world.

Everything the prodigal son spent and enjoyed all through his life including while in rebellion outside there, he got from the father. Everything!

For the true son, The Father is the source of everything.

Notice that after spending all he got from the father, nobody was willing to give him anything. He became poor because he was far away from his source. In fact he had cut himself off from his source.

Your provision in life as a son is in your relationship with the Father. Never forget that. You will not thrive running away from the father’s will, you will not thrive running away from the father’s presence.

God is your true source of livelihood. Stay joined with Him.

————

All things are yours, even now (1 Corinthians 3:21-23). Ask and it shall be given to you. That was what the Senior son missed. May we understand and realise the full benefits of sonship in Christ today and everyday. May we not wander away from our only true source, our heavenly Father.

Shalom.

Nothing is Wrong with Jesus

Hebrews 12: 2-3

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

‘There is nothing wrong with Jesus.’

If you are left disappointed by the actions of so called followers or even messengers of Jesus, please note that every human being exists as an individual with a freewill to make choices of their own conduct. Jesus is not resposible for the actions of his so called followers and so cannot be defined by their actions.

Jesus Christ is the eternal Word, the incarnated son of God and the resurrected Lord, the firstborn from the dead, he has a name above every other name and He is the soon coming king.

Yes His mission was to safe mankind from sin and reconcile us back to God, making a permanent bridge between man and God. He left this message for men and women to propagate for Him and be his representatives on earth. These representatives are not perfect and sometimes they really misrepresent Him. However there’s nothing wrong with Jesus. He was tempted in every way just as we are today but He never sinned. We can trust Him. Let us keep looking unto Jesus as the author and finisher of our faith.

That your faith may not fail

31“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. 32But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” Luke 22:31-32

To everyone who is going through something or in the midst of a battle;

I want you to understand that God is not unaware of whatever situation you are in. He is aware and He’s done something about it.

In actual fact He did something about it before you became aware of the situation. Jesus laid the situation before Peter and let him know, ‘I have taken care of it’. I prayed for you. We have the Holy Spirit in us today helping us as Jesus helped Peter, interceding on our behalf to the Father, and Jesus being our advocate (1 John 2:1) pleading our case to the Father the Judge, your Father who loves you as well. You see, there is no way you can lose.

  1. Understand that Satan is the one behind every evil experience you are going through. He asked to have you, and to sift you.
  2. What you need to hold unto (strongly) and prove undefeated is your faith. Hold on to your trust in God. Hold on to the infallibility of the Word of the God.
  3. You will come out at the other end. There is always an end to every trial. Look forward to a victorious end.
  4. Now when you come out of the situation. You have the assignment of strengthening your brethren, and I believe it will be with the same encouragement that you have received from God.

John 16:33

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

John 14:1
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

Romans 8:37
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Romans 8:26
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words (ESV).

1 John 2:13
I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I have written to you, children, because you know the Father.

Isaiah 54:17

No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their righteousness is from Me,”
Says the Lord.

You are the blessed of the Lord. Go ahead and walk in the victory your Lord procured for you. Shalom.

Life to the Full

John 10:10-11

10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].

11 [a]I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd [b]lays down His [own] life for the sheep.

The purpose of Jesus’ coming and His mission on earth is encapsulated or reinforced in the statements above made by Jesus himself. He said He is the door. We have access to God’s kingdom on earth coming to God through and In the name of Jesus. There is no other valid access. In God’s kingdom is God’s best plan and provision for His sheep, His flock.

Jesus declares He is also the Good Shepherd whose mission is to ensure that His flock would have and enjoy life and not just in a limited way, but in a full, abundant way till it overflows. He is so committed to this that He laid down His life to make it happen. Jesus paid all the necessary price for His children to have life to the fullest extent. The Kingdom of God is here on earth and we have access to these provision right here. Jesus lived on earth and demonstrated the full life of God to us, walking in dominion in every area of His life. He walked in full authority, dominion and power. He was the clear master over situations and circumstances in every sphere of His life; spirit, soul and body. Sickness never touched him and demons trembled at His presence. His needs were met at every point in time as He relied on God for everything. What a picture of abundant life. The Bible says ‘As He is, so are we in this world’. 1 John 4:17

17 In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world.

We are one with Christ as His body, we are in communion with Him, we have access to, have been endowed with and do enjoy the same authority and dominion which He exercised on earth – since it is His own, by His Spirit living in us. As He is, so are we made perfect in love right here.

This is wonderful! And the Word of God is liberating. You shall know the truth and the truth that you know will set you free right now. It is God’s will for us to have and enjoy life to the fullest extent and Jesus paid the price. So go forth in this understanding and enforce your right to the life He procured for you.

Shalom!

Fear Not

Fear is one great enemy of our faith.

‘The real enemy is fear’. Fear opens the door to other emotions, doubt, unbelief and worry. They are all tag-team players in the art of pursuing the believer. I believe understanding this is so relevant in the days that we live in.

Fear is arguably the most potent of the enemy’s weapons against the believer.

The mind is the battlefield where we war against the wiles of the evil one.

The devil shoots deadly arrows full of lies or false evidences at the believer’s mind trying to get you to be afraid, to be afraid of the unknown or be afraid of negative outcomes. Attempting to paint scary pictures on the canvas of our minds.

No wonder the bible says “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” NLT Proverbs 4:23

It is said that there are 365 ‘Fear nots’ in the scriptures. Some say you need one for each day.

Fear is the opposite of faith and let us be clear God did not give us the spirit of fear.

1 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

7Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

18There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:7,18.

God sees us through the eyes of love, grace and mercy as we are in Jesus Christ. He loves us and we are not afraid of His punishment.

While faith activates the power of God in our lives, Fear potentially opens us up to the attack of the enemy.

FEAR is correctly described as False Evidence Appearing Real. The enemy exaggerates things in our minds and gets us to take our focus away from God, His Word, promises and faithfulness. Whatsoever we see in the physical around us and whatever ‘reality’ wants us to believe, we have to remember that we walk by faith and not by sight.2Cor.5:7.

Paul gave a profound counsel or directive in Philipians 4:6 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”.

God’s Word promises peace, protection and victory in His presence the time of trouble.

Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10.

Ephesians 2: 4But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Romans 8:37-39 KJV.

37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 John 4:4 KJV.

4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

We have a lot of God’s promises to lean on when fear attacks our minds. We focus on God’s Word and walk by faith. We have the whole armour of God to protect us.

Ephesians 6:11-18 KJV

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

We have God’s word as truth and we have Jesus’ righteousness to protect our hearts. We have our shield of Faith to help us fend off all the lies of the enemy. God’s word is in our mouth to also fight back the enemy of our God and through which we see great results. We are wrapped all around by God and hid in Christ in God, so we are destined for victory.

Be blessed.

The Identity Question

One of the greatest questions that would ever present itself to all human beings is the question, ‘Who am I’ ? and adjoining questions; ‘Where am I from’ ? and ‘What am I here to do’ ?

It is basically the question around Identity.

There are global businesses now tailored specifically around helping people to find their origin, their DNA? Who were my ancestors? Etc.

The question of identity has always been exploited by the devil, in Gen 3:1-4 he distorted the image of Adam and Eve’s identity in his question to Eve, ……’if you eat and disobey God, you will be like God’. That was a lie. They were created in the image, form and likeness of God. They were already like God and needed no help from the devil. Unfortunately Eve fell for this lie and as a results Adam also fell.

Likewise, in Matthew 4:3, 6, 8, the devil said to Jesus as part of His temptation, ‘if you are the son of God….’, Notice that God had just announced Jesus as His son in the preceding chapter (Matthew 3:17). We thank God, Jesus the second Adam was secured in Himself and did not fall for the trap.

There are many opportunities to muddle up the understanding of our identity due to other people’s opinion about us.

Remember Jesus asked His disciples, ‘who do people say that I am?’ Matthew 16:13-20. And they had all kinds of responses.

The only person that can give you an accurate description of who you are is your heavenly father, that’s the one we are all from.

Why is this important?

Gal 3:26-29

If you know who you are;

When you pray in the name of Jesus, you are speaking just like Jesus will speak with authority and it is as if Jesus himself is personally present making the declaration.

You will see yourself differently and accurately.

You will think differently – ‘As he thinks in his heart so is he’ Proverbs 23:7

You will pray differently. You will not be going around with your heads down in low self -esteem.

You will speak with authority and address your situations with Power.

You will approach God in the name of Jesus and know you are welcome in God’s presence.

Anytime you pray or speak going forward, pray with understanding and know that your prayers are heard and answered.

I will like to reiterate two important points of truth about your identity.

  1. You are from God and you will never be without God, whether on earth or in heaven.

As a child of God and irrespective of your country, tongue or the color of your skin. Your identity should never be in doubt. You are a child of God. You have God’s DNA. You are from God and you will never be without God, whether on earth or in heaven.

Ephesians 1:4-5, 1 John 4:4

All Jesus’s ministry on earth was to reconcile man back unto God and restore our true identity back unto us. You are made in the same image as God, we are Jesus’ brothers and Sisters and in the spirit, we all look like Jesus (1 John 4:17).

2. You are uniquely created.

Even though we are all from God. We are all created individually, differently and each with a role.

We are all different and we have our own distinctive endowments – gifting, fingerprints- , you have your footprint and your own journey in life.

We have our unique journeys and destinies.

You were wonderfully and fearfully made. Psalm 139:13-14.

That means God had some deep thinking – as it were – before creating you – fit for purpose.

We are all Individuals made uniquely with unique designs.

What you need right now is deep understanding of yourself, your composition and your role in life and in the body of Jesus.

We live in a society steeped in competition. People are always rating others in comparison with other people. Who is first and who is second?

I am amazed at how believers feel so insecure comparing themselves with other believers. You are blessed until someone else with a more shining testimony or more visible gifts appears, then you become uncomfortable.

You are never good at appreciating what you have but you are quick at appreciating what others have. Comparing yourself with someone else, measuring your progress with someone else’s is not the way to go. 2 Cor. 10:12, 18.

Until you know your role and begin to love and appreciate who you are, you will never be able to settle, fulfill your purpose and do great things for God.

Until you know your role, you will never be able to play it effectively.

God is the writer of the script and He gave everyone their roles.

Stick to the script and play your own role.

Stop comparing yourself with others.

Break free from the hold of competition, which leads to bitterness, envy, jealousy and all other negative emotions.

John the Baptist clearly stated – I know who I am, I am not the Messiah– John 1:19-32

When you know who you are,

You will see yourself differently and accurately.

‘For you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free..’ John 8:32.

That is my prayer for you today:

That you will come into the fullness of being a son or daughter of God (John 8:35), and like Paul prayed you will know the breadth, the depth and the height of God’s love for you (Ephesians 3:17-17).

Ephesians 1:17-19(TLB)

I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you wisdom to see clearly and really understand who Christ is and all that he has done for you. 18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can see something of the future he has called you to share. I want you to realize that God has been made rich because we who are Christ’s have been given to him! 19 I pray that you will begin to understand how incredibly great his power is to help those who believe him.

As we close the chapter on the year 2020

Agreeably the year 2020 has been a challenging one with the world groaning under the affliction of the COVID-19 pandemic. The world cannot wait for the year to end hoping for a better year 2021 ahead. However, as the children of God’s kingdom – even though we are in the world together with everyone – we know that God remains the same, He’s not shocked by the events in the world and He has been faithful to His Word and kept His commitment to His people. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). If we take a moment to look back into the year 2020, consider all our experiences, our wins and our losses, we will see that God has been good to us as He has always been and that we have so many reasons to be thankful. As we close this year reflecting on these things, let us keep on looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Let us keep standing our ground, listening out for and obeying His instructions, using our God given authority wherever God has positioned us. His will shall ultimately be done in our lives and on the earth.

Have a Merry Christmas and a glorious New Year 2021 ahead. Shalom.

Jesus saves the day

Whatever the situation you find yourself going through, possibly something similar to what the new couple in John 2:1-10 was experiencing, they were running short of wine for their guests. Maybe you are running short of one thing or the other at the moment; provision, resources, morale whatever it is, I want you to know that the story does not end there.

Fortunately for the couple they had invited Jesus’s mother, Jesus and the disciples to the party. What a blessing to have Jesus on board with you when the wind of life is blowing against you! It makes all the difference to have Jesus on your side. Jesus’s mother called Jesus into the situation and instructed the servants, ‘whatever he tells you to do, do it’. She stood in as the needed intercessor and counsellor at this moment. We need such in our lives.

After all said and done, Jesus turned water into wine for the occasion to go on and prevented the couple from experiencing any shame or embarrassment. Child of God, Jesus is on your side and you can trust Him to deliver you from shame and embarrassment. I love the way the story ended, the Master of ceremony, having tasted the new wine called the bridegroom and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”

That is the conclusion, it always gets better with Jesus. The path of the just shines brighter and brighter till the full light of day.

Be encouraged and stay strong.
